Tonight I stumbled across two quotes from C.S. Lewis from his book The Problem of Pain, one of which I was familiar with and one of which was new to me. Both made me think of Jahar, in light of what we know about all his injuries and about how awful life must be for him inside of that cell all alone.
God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks in our conscience, but shouts in our pains: it is His megaphone to rouse a deaf world.
[Pain] removes the veil; it plants the flag of truth within the fortress of a rebel soul.
As we plead with God for Him to heal Jahar and to comfort Jahar, let’s also pray that the pain Jahar does experience physically and emotionally would not be in vain. Pray that Jahar’s suffering would open his eyes and draw him to Jesus.
I don’t want Jahar to suffer one bit because I love him, and his pain has become my pain, but God can use even awful, painful things to work wonders in people’s hearts and lives. May He do so for Jahar.
